The popularity of text messaging has no doubt been a boon for communication, both personal and in business. It’s quick, informal, and non-invasive. If the person you’re trying to reach is in a meeting, they aren’t interrupted by a loud ringtone—and while they may not have been able to pick up a call, they may be able to shoot back a quick reply via text.
Sending longer messages or reaching out to many contacts, however, can be cumbersome. No one enjoys tapping out dozens and dozens of messages with only their thumbs. And what if your company doesn’t provide a business cell phone? Do you want your entire professional network to have your personal phone number?
Thankfully, many of today’s newer telephone systems come with a computer and smartphone app that allows you to text with other employees in your company. Furthermore, some systems now offer the capability to text with any other SMS-enabled device in the world.
