Off-premises cloud market to reach $414 billion

According to a report from IHS Markit, the off-premises cloud service market could reach $414 billion (yes, billion, with a "b") by 2022. The report specifically pegged cloud-as-a-service (Caas) and platform-as-a-service as emerging markets in the off-premises cloud world. Caas targets mainstream enterprises, while Paas is targeted toward developers. 

"To improve agility and realize cost savings, enterprises are migrating applications off-premises to the cloud," IHS Markit's Devan Adams, senior analyst, enterprise and IT, wrote in the report. "Upfront capital expenditures can be shifted to as-needed operating expenditures, by using off-premises cloud services—shifting from investments in equipment and staff to leveraging a cloud service provider’s automated data center infrastructure, supported by highly skilled data center experts."

The report also mentioned several partnerships that are driving the industry forward:
  • Adobe, Microsoft and SAP partnered to introduce the Open Data Initiative, designed to provide customers with a complete view of their data across different platforms.
  • Google Cloud and Cisco announced a partnership that improved the connection between Google G suite and Cisco WebEx.
  • Amazon Web Service (AWS) and Salesforce expanded their alliance, adding new product integrations for customers to share and synchronize data across AWS and Salesforce Lightning.

Some HPA Projects Include:

  • Designed and implemented a complete new voice, data and security network for a regional bank and their branches. Results included improved customer service in their call center, improved communication between locations and redundancy at all locations including the branches.
  • Designed and implemented a new VoIP telecommunications network including new equipment and services for a Rochester based not-for-profit with over 15 locations.
  • Redesigned a not-for-profit organization’s telecommunications system in five cities by implementing new services and pricing and auditing telephone bills. The savings paid for all new telephone equipment in less than two years.
  • Manage the communications network for a regional hospital in central New York. HPA has lowered the costs for the hospital and at the same time implemented a more up-to-date network with more functionality and redundancy.
  • Designed and implemented a Call Center for a Benefit Company in Rochester. Project resulted in drastic improvements in customer service.
  • Planned and designed a new voice and data network for a Law Firm with six locations in New York State.
